Milk Tea and Bandages (2)
It was back when we were in high school… We hadn’t talked before, but we ran into each other behind the school building.
Right. You were sitting on the ground, covered in wounds. Your uniform was in tatters too. Didn’t you tell me that you got into a fight…?
Yeah. I was fairly hot headed back then. I got into any fights that came my way… It was just a constant occurrence.
I was pretty shocked. We never even talked to each other in class, so it was surprising to meet you like that.
Haha, I was surprised too. You left to go get me bandages and a can of milk tea without even telling any teachers what happened.
I remember how the bandages had shumai printed on them. I found them interesting, so I showed them to Nayuki. Too bad he didn’t really comment on them though.
And you didn’t even have to buy me that milk tea, but you did it anyway.
Well, there was a vending machine right next to us. Since the can was cold, I thought you could use it to reduce the swelling on your face.
Yeah, I remember you telling me that. I was taken aback, but…I was really happy.
So I wanted to find an opportunity to repay you someday. That day is today.
I see… Then I’ll treat you to something next time. This drink’s way more expensive than that milk tea, so I’ll make up for the difference.
But then that’ll create another difference, and I’ll have to treat you again to make up for it.
Then I’ll have to do it again… It’ll just keep on going.
Haha! Looks like we invented a perpetual motion machine. I wouldn’t mind that myself.
Oh, looks like our glasses are already empty. What are you thinking for the second round?
Hmm… I’ll take my usual.
I will too. A glass of white wine and a whiskey on the rocks, please.
Coming right up.
There’s no end to the memories once you start talking about them.
We should keep talking about our high school days while we’re at it. I’m sure we both have a lot of stories to tell.
Right. In that case…
*clink*
Time for round two.
