Teach Me! Kiroku-Sensei! (1)
……
*knocking*
Kiroku, are you there?
Sorry to show up so suddenly. I wanted to ask you for a favor.
You want to ask…me…? For a…favor?
Yeah. Could you teach me about art supplies?
Huh? Kamina-san…you…draw?
Is that so surprising?
I picked up art as a change of pace from skating. I only do some sketches here and there, but I find it pretty fun.
If I remember correctly, you prefer to do traditional art over digital art, right?
So I thought you’d have a lot of knowledge on art supplies. You’d be the best person to learn from.
……
(Kamina-san went out of his way to ask me… So I want to help him.)
W-What kind of…supplies were you…interested…in?
I actually didn’t have anything particular in mind. Are there any supplies you’d recommend for a beginner to use?
C-Can I…look at your art…so I can…recommend you…something?
Oh, you’re going to recommend something to me based on my style? That sounds like a great idea.
I brought my sketchbook with me. Go ahead and flip through it.
*pages flipping*
…!
…W-What is…this…?
It’s a sketch of my breakfast today.
It looked especially delicious this morning, so I just found myself wanting to sketch it out.
(Today’s breakfast was…sunny-side up eggs on toast. But this…doesn’t look like that at all…)
(There are some swirls on the toast…? And he tried to shade it, but the light source is…all over the place.)
What do you think? When I showed it to Liguang, he described it as “beyond incomprehensible”…
(I didn’t know a simple breakfast sketch could be something this artistic…)
I-It’s…amazing.
(I’d love to see what it looks like with some color… I want to see even more of Kamina-san’s art.)
I’ll…do my best…looking for the right…supplies for you.
Sounds good. Thank you. That makes me happy to hear.
